Boise police arrested a Borah High School psychology teacher Thursday for two charges of sexual battery of a boy between the ages of 16-to-17.

Michelle Ward Farley, 40, is being held in the Ada County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Defense attorney Chuck Peterson said Friday that Farley planned to post bond and will defend herself against the charge.

Boise police were contacted early Thursday by someone reporting a possible pattern of sexual contact between Farley and a teenage male that began in May 2008. Detectives investigating the report found evidence of a crime and arrested Farley by 8:30 p.m.

Ada County Deputy Prosecutor Jean Fisher said Farley admitted to Boise police when she was arrested Thursday to having had sexual contact with the boy.

Other details on what led to the arrest — including where the suspected sexual contact occurred — are not yet available.

Fisher said Friday the boy was 17 in May when the sexual relationship began and is a student at Borah High.

A judge Friday reduced bond for a former Twin Falls School District substitute teacher and volunteer volleyball coach charged with sex crimes against a 15-year-old boy.

William Arthur Stevens, 22, was charged Oct. 23 with two counts of sex abuse of a child under 16, four counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16, both felonies, and distribution of obscene material, a misdemeanor. A 5th Judicial District Court judge lowered his bond Friday from $100,000 to $20,000 for the felony charges.

Stevens' lawyer, Keith Roark, said his client would not be a threat to the community. Prosecutors, however, did not want the bond reduced. Harris ordered Stevens to surrender his passport to the court if released and be under house arrest, at his parents' Twin Falls residence.

He's been lodged at the Twin Falls County Jail since his arrest, about a week ago. Police assert Stevens, a 2004 graduate of Twin Falls High School, said he took a 15-year-old boy to the Rock Creek RV Park in Twin Falls and they engaged in sexual acts, court records show.

A middle school worker is accused of inappropriately touching children.

Caldwell Police Sgt. Tony Thompson says Meagan Belnap worked as a temporary tracker at Syringa Middle School. Trackers are hired to take care of special needs students by following them around to class, read to them and make sure everything is going OK.

But police say not everything was OK when Belnap allegedly inappropriately touched one child and engaged in inappropriate conduct with three others. It apparently happened last school year.

The school resource officer heard rumors from students at the school about the incidents. After an investigation, officials turned over their findings to prosecutors. A grand jury indicted her on four counts of sexual abuse of a child.

Idaho State Police arrested a western Washington man in Moscow on Saturday on charges that he had unlawful sexual contact with minors while he was working at Camp Grizzly.

Timothy Andrew Kellis, 38, of Tumwater, Wash., has been charged with one court of felony sexual abuse of a child and two counts of lewd conduct with a minor younger than 16, according to an ISP news release. The abuse allegedly occurred while Kellis was a counselor at Camp Grizzly, a Boy Scout camp near Harvard, Idaho.

The ISP release states that Detective Lyle Bolon began investigating allegations against Kellis on April 10. Bolon concluded that Kellis “fondled and engaged in lewd and lascivious contact” with two boys “as a continuous course of conduct” in the summer of 2007.

The former Highland High School assistant band teacher who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing one of his students was sentenced Monday morning.

Michael Kee Dann previously admitted to having an inappropriate sexual relationship with one of his band students. Monday, Dann said he was sorry for what he did then Judge Peter McDermott gave him the state's recommended sentence.

In February, 32-year-old Dann pleaded guilty to one felony count of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under the age of 16. Before he was sentenced, Dann told Judge McDermott he wanted to publicly apologize to the victim, the families involved, and members of the community who have been hurt in this case. He said he made a gross error in judgement and is mortified by his actions.

Former Borah High School marketing teacher Ronald Keith Neil pleaded guilty in federal court in Boise Tuesday to possessing child pornography on a school district laptop computer he had at his home. Neil was placed on administrative leave on September 5 and resigned his position December 19. Sentencing is set for May 14 at 1 p.m. at the federal courthouse in Boise.

Neil, 41, faces a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents discovered Neil’s activity after an unrelated investigation revealed that Neil’s personal credit card and home e-mail address had been used to purchase access to child pornography Web sites. The transactions dated back as far as the fall of 2002. Neil also obtained pornographic images from other individuals using peer-to-peer file sharing software and Windows Messenger.

After a three month investigation, a Grand Jury indicted 36-year-old Randy Eddy of Sexual Battery with a Minor.  Eddy is a teacher and coach at Parma Middle School, a post he’s held for five years.  He spent two years at Meridian Middle School prior to that.

The middle school teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old high school student. Norton placed Eddy on administrative leave when police launched their probe last December.

“These are terrible. You always err on the side of protecting students at all times.  And we want to do that in this case as well,” Norton said. “It’s a very difficult situation because we want to respect the rights of everyone involved.”
